In the globalizing world; products, services, ideas, people and even cities are in competition. Hence, this competetive envi- ronment requires cities to use marketing methods. In this sense, branding of cities has gained importance today. Defining and diversifying characteristics of cities are the main determinants of competition when it comes to city branding. So, these components such as city brand identity, city image and brand positioning should be managed carefully while build- ing and managing an effective city brand. In this study, the importance of city branding and its components were dis- cussed and suggestions were presented.
